Virtual telephone numbers

Virtual telephone numbers are telephone numbers used for marketing purposes and come in a variety of different kinds for different purposes.

Out-of-area ('Local') telephone numbers (01, 02)

Normally, you place an order for a telephone line and you get a local geographic number. For example, we are in the Nottingham telephone area and our telephone number begins 0115. If you are in, say, Mansfield, your number will begin 01623 and for Derby 01332. Some businesses, however, find it useful to have a number from an area other than the one they are based in, so while a company based in Leicester would normally have 0116, they might also want a presence in Ripley (01773), Coalville (01530) and Chesterfield (01246).

We can supply geographic phone numbers from most areas of the country but with the calls sent to your office wherever that happens to be. We can even arrange it so you know where the call came from so you can answer appropriately.

Non-geographic telephone numbers

These are phone numbers that are not tied to a particular area of the country and can go with you when you move offices. Calls can come into your office or to your mobile phone. This can be useful if you are out and about and don't want to miss any calls.

Freephone numbers (0500, 0800, 0808)

You want potential customers to call you rather than the competition, so why not let them call you for free? 0800 and 0808 numbers are free to call from landlines and mobile phones. Calls can be routed to your office or mobile phone and won't cost you a fortune.

Basic-rate telephone numbers (0845, 0844, 0843)

Higher-rate telephone numbers (0870, 0871, 0872, 0873)

Premium-rate telephone numbers (09xx)

From helpdesk numbers to competition lines and adult services, phone numbers beginning 09 are classed as premium rate, with some of the cost of the call going to pay for the service provided. We can supply premium rate phone numbers that pay you to receive the calls.

You might have seen scam emails warning you not to call a particular telephone number because you will be charged £25 as soon as you make the call. The maximum you can be charged for a call from the UK to a UK premium rate number is £1.50 per minute or a fixed fee of £1.50.
