Samsung OfficeServ 7200 and 7400 telephone system known problems
Applies to
This article applies to the following products.
Voice mail and auto attendant not working
Affected systems
Older versions of OfficeServ 7200 and 7400 fitted with an OfficeServ SVMi-20E voice mail card. This problem does not affect systems fitted with the more recent SVMi-20i voice mail card.
Symptoms
The system works normally except that there is no access to voice mail either for people to leave messages or to listen to messages. Auto attendant does not work, with incoming calls ringing 1 or more extensions directly rather than callers being given the option to select the person or department they want to speak to.
Cause
The OfficeServ SVMi-20E voice mail card contains a hard drive, which, being mechanical, eventually stops working.
Repair
We will need to replace the faulty SVMi-20E voice mail card with the newer SVMi-20i voice mail card. This card makes use of flash memory rather than a mechanical hard drive, and thus is not affected by this problem. The phone system will almost certainly require a firmware update, and all mailbox greeting messages and auto attendant messages will need to be re-recorded.
